The White Stripes scatter more North American dates through September
Detroit-based duo The White Stipes continue to add dates to their ever-expanding tour of North America, which now reaches into September.
The minimalist rockers have been on the road virtually non-stop since the April 1 release of their latest album, "Elephant," which features the single "Seven Nation Army." The video for the song recently won the MuchMusic Award for Best International Video--Group.
Before opening a month-long stint of North American dates that gets underway in mid-July, group members Jack and Meg White head over the pond to play the U.K.'s T in the Park and Ireland's Witness Festival.
In late August, the pair returns to the U.K. for two more festivals--Reading and Leeds--before embarking on another series of North American shows in September. The tour visits Japan in October; details about all of the overseas shows are available at the band's official website.
"Elephant" is the follow-up to the critically acclaimed 2001 set "White Blood Cells," which features the hits "Fell in Love With a Girl" and "Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground."
Originally released on indie label Sympathy for the Record Industry, "White Blood Cells" was re-released last year on BMG imprint V2.
