Singer-songwriter Jason Mraz buckles up for summer outing
Jason Mraz gets back on the bus in late July for a new round of North American dates behind his 2002 debut, "Waiting for My Rocket to Come."
Mraz's headlining stops are set in theaters and clubs. The singer-songwriter's itinerary also includes a number of dates on which he'll open for Liz Phair ; a pair of performances at New Jersey's Giants Stadium, where he'll open for Bon Jovi and Pete Yorn; and a one-off opening performance for Alanis Morissette . Details and ticket information are posted at Mraz's website.
Fans looking for a preview of Mraz's live show can check out a 30-minute webcast at RealMagicTV.com. In addition to performance footage, the archived video stream includes an interview with Mraz. The webcast will remain online until July 14, and fans can vote to extend that run, according to Mraz's website.
"Waiting for My Rocket to Come" surfaced on Elektra Records last October. John Alagia (Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer) produced the set.
The album's latest single--"The Remedy (I Won't Worry)"--is riding in the Top 10 on Billboard's Adult Top 40 Tracks chart, and has helped the album to remain in the Top 100 on the Billboard 200 album chart.
In a recent journal entry posted at his website, Mraz shared his feelings about his newfound fame.
"I'm a bit overwhelmed at the popularity and progression that this album has created for me and my daily life," he said. " ... [T]his didn't happen when I writing the first record. Life was different. You didn't know who exactly was listening. You only had to listen to yourself and to your friends and loved ones. It was trust on a much more personal level. Now I have to trust the masses. Crazy."
