Dwight Yoakam unplugs for tour behind 'Population: Me'
Dwight Yoakam has embarked on a major acoustic tour in support of his new album, "Population: Me," which was released on Tuesday (6/24).
The album is Yoakam's first for his independent label, Electrodisc Records, which he formed after exiting Reprise Records last year. Longtime collaborator and guitarist Pete Anderson produced the set.
Yoakam wrote seven of the album's 10 songs--including "If Teardrops Were Diamonds," a duet with Willie Nelson.
Dubbed "Almost Alone … and then some," Yoakam's extensive tour launched in Michigan earlier this week, and runs through October. The itinerary features a mix of festivals, sheds, clubs and casinos.
Yoakam, who appears in the new Harrison Ford-Josh Hartnett movie "Hollywood Homicide," was given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on June 5. His other acting credits include "Sling Blade" and "Panic Room."
