North American amphitheaters gear up for Radiohead

Experimental rockers Radiohead have removed the wraps from their plans to tour North America this summer and fall, revealing a 19-city jaunt that's broken into two legs.

The first leg of the tour kicks off in the Boston area on Aug. 13, and runs through the end of that month. The second opens in the San Francisco Bay Area on Sept. 23, and concludes in early October.

Tickets for most of the August dates will go on sale on Saturday (6/21). The exception is the Seattle-area show at White River Amphitheatre, for which tickets hit the market on June 28. Other ticket on-sale information wasn't available at press time.

Radiohead is supporting its new album, "Hail to the Thief," which debuted at No. 1 on this week's U.K. album chart.

The recording sessions for "Hail to the Thief" took place between Radiohead’s homeland--Oxfordshire, England--and Los Angeles. The group co-produced the set with longtime collaborator Nigel Godrich, and Godrich handled the mixing process.

Ex-Pavement frontman Stephen Malkmus will open for Radiohead on all of the tour's North American dates. Malkmus is touring behind "Pig Lib," his second album with his new band the Jicks.
