The Eagles drop new single, add West Coast shows
With a new single and DVD on the way, the Eagles have added a brief West Coast swing to their "Farewell I" tour.
The outing, which got underway in May, is now scheduled to run through much of August. The group's lineup currently consists of Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit.
Fans who join the official Eagles Fan Club can purchase advance tickets for the newly announced August shows before they go on sale to the general public; details are available at the fan club's website.
During the tour, the Eagles are performing songs from throughout their career, including their new single, "Hole in the World," which has been sent to radio and is available via Apple's online iTunes service.
The Eagles are self-releasing the single and DVD, without the support of a major label. It will be available through Best Buy stores beginning on Tuesday (6/10), at Sam Goody stores on June 17 and at other retailers on July 10, according to the group's publicist.
The DVD features the "Hole in the World" music video, outtakes, footage from the making of the song, and a behind-the-scenes look at the group's current tour.
Over the course of their three-decade career, the Eagles have sold more than 120 million albums worldwide, and have garnered four No. 1 U.S. singles and four GRAMMY® awards, according to the group's publicist. Their hits compilation, "Greatest Hits 1971-1975," which has sold over 27 million copies, is the top-selling album of all time in the U.S.
The group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.
