Field Day cut to one day, moved to Giants Stadium
Organizers of New York's inaugural Field Day Festival have condensed the schedule from two days to one and have moved the event from a park on New York's Long Island to New Jersey's Giants Stadium.
Field Day is now scheduled to take place on Saturday (6/7) only. Radiohead , Beastie Boys , Beck , Blur , Spiritualized, Underworld, Elliott Smith, Beth Orton, Liz Phair, Bright Eyes, Thursday, My Morning Jacket, Ours, Gemma Hayes and 22-20s have been confirmed to appear at the new location, but other previously announced acts hadn't been confirmed at press time.
The lineup will be updated at the event's website as acts are confirmed, according to the site.
Tickets for the original Long Island (Calverton) event will not be honored at the Giants Stadium show, organizers announced, adding that all tickets purchased for the Long Island festival will be automatically refunded to the credit card on which they were purchased. Tickets for the Giants Stadium show are now on sale.
The shakeup comes a day after the Riverhead, N.Y., town board denied promoters a mass gathering permit for the event due to security concerns. Riverhead police said they could not handle the expected crowd of 50,000 without outside help, and New York State Police reportedly said they did not have enough lead time to prepare for the event.
