Dixie Chicks will perform via satellite from the Frank Erwin Center in their hometown of Austin, Texas, during the May 21 telecast of the Academy of Country Music Awards.

The ceremony, hosted by Reba McEntire , takes place at Las Vegas' Mandalay Bay and will air live on CBS-TV.

Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland reportedly was arrested in Burbank, Calif., on Sunday (5/18) after police found unspecified narcotics in his car during a routine traffic stop (he allegedly was driving at night with his lights off).

According to wire reports, Weiland--who spent a year in jail in 1999 and 2000 after several drug-related run-ins with the law--was released on Sunday morning after posting a $10,000 bond.

Speed-metal favorites Slayer will headline this fall's Jagermeister Music Tour, which gets underway in October. The itinerary hasn't been confirmed.

This spring's edition of the Jagermeister tour featured Saliva, (hed) Planet Earth, Breaking Benjamin, Systematic and Stereomud.

Goth survivors Gene Loves Jezebel release the ninth album of their 21-year career on Aug. 9. The set--titled "Exploding Girls"--was produced by founding lead vocalist Michael Aston with Michael Rozen. Aston, who makes his debut as a guitar player on the song "Aire (Buenos Aires)," wrote the album with guitarist Michael Ciravolo.

Beyonce Knowles, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Lionel Richie, New Edition, Talib Kweli, Common and the Gap Band will perform at the 16th Annual Essence Awards, which take place on June 6 at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles.

The event will air as a two-hour special on FOX-TV on June 27.
