Staind lays out tour plans as new album hits stores
Staind follows its free club tour with a round of headlining dates and radio-festival performances that support the band's latest CD, "14 Shades of Grey."
The Boston-based group is launching the album--which surfaces on Tuesday (5/20)--with four free dates, the first of which took place in its home city last Thursday (5/15), followed by Saturday night's (5/17) stop in New York City. A free release-day show in Los Angeles and a Thursday (5/23) stop in Chicago round out the free outing.
From there, the group will spend the rest of May, June and early July working the radio-festival circuit, as well as headlining a series of dates that will feature rock act Cold in the opening slot.
Staind is also due to open for fellow Boston-based rock quintet Godsmack in New Mexico on June 11.
On Wednesday (5/21), Staind will perform on "The Tonight Show" with Jay Leno.
The first run of the "14 Shades of Grey" CD will include a limited edition, bonus DVD that features footage of the band from its early years to the present, along with album lyrics and new band photos. The album features the Top 10 single "Price to Play."
The album also includes the track "Layne," a tribute to late Alice in Chains singer Layne Staley, who last year died of a drug overdose. Staind's website features streaming video of the group performing the song in the studio.
Staind broke through with its 2001 album "Break the Cycle," which is certified quadruple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.
