The Isley Brothers back 'Soul Kiss' with live dates

The Isley Brothers --who are still churning out the hits more than 40 years after they first charted--are back with a new album and a tour to support it.

The Isleys latest hit, titled "What Would You Do," is currently at No. 18 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart. The single is from the group's just-released album "Body Kiss."

Eleven of the 12 tracks on "Body Kiss"--including "What Would You Do"--were produced, written and arranged by R&B star R. Kelly . Kelly also contributes some vocals.

"I like to sell records," said Ronald Isley--known as Mr. Biggs to many of his younger fans--in a statement. "I'm inspired by wanting to be on top. Conventional wisdom says that artists who were successful in the '50s are not going to have hit records in 2003, so you can imagine how much I'm loving this!"

Kelly and the Isleys collaborated on the hit title-track from the Isley's 2001 album "Eternal," and Isley said the experience led to talk of doing a full album with Kelly. "We figured it was time to really outdo ourselves," he said.

The producer-songwriter team Tim and Bob worked on the "Body Kiss" track "I Want That," and Snoop Dogg and Lil' Kim also make appearances on the album.

The Isleys logged their first hit in 1959 with "Shout," and have charted often ever since. The group has topped the Billboard R&B charts with "Twist and Shout" (1962), "It's Your Thing" (1969), "Fight the Power (Part 1)" (1975), "Don't Say Goodnight (It's Time for Love) (1980), "That Lady (Part 1)" (1973), "The Heat is On" (1975), "The Pride" (1977), “Take Me to the Next Phase" (1978), "Showdown" (1978), "I Wanna Be with You" (1979), "Smooth Sailin' Tonight" (1987) and "Spend the Night" (1989).

The Isleys were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992.
