Limp Bizkit scraps album and starts over with new guitarist
Limp Bizkit is apparently quite excited about its new guitar player, Mike Smith ... so much so that the group has shelved its recently completed, Smith-less album--which it planned to release in June--and is starting over with the new axe slinger.
"The chemistry with our new guitar player Mike is so dope that we are spending the next couple weeks writing a new album!!" frontman Fred Durst wrote in a recent message posted on his band's official website. "The 19 songs we wrote without Mike are still amazing and sitting on the shelf waiting on me to do whatever the hell I want to do with them."
The ever-excitable Durst went on to describe how adding Smith to the fold has affected the group's dynamic.
"The energy and vibe in our rehearsal space is absolutely amazing!! We are [a] band. We have a guitar player that is going to bug you out. The songs are out of control and I'm on a f---ing mission!!!!!!!!!!"
Durst's message followed numerous previous posts in which he raved about the now-shelved new album, for which he had announced a number of working titles, including "Bipolar," Less Is More" and "Fetus More."
According to Durst, the group will finish and release the now-in-progress album before the July 4 launch of the Summer Sanitarium Tour, which features Metallica, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Deftones and Mudvayne.
Prior to settling on former Snot guitarist Smith, Limp Bizkit had been without a permanent guitar player since original guitarist Wes Borland ditched the group in 2001.
