Aerosmith and KISS lock in venues, set on-sale dates for joint tour
Rock icons KISS and Aerosmith have confirmed the venues at which they'll be performing during their upcoming co-headlining tour.
The outing, which is due to touch down in more than 30 cities, is booked into amphitheaters throughout the U.S., and is scheduled to run from early August through mid October.
At press time, tickets for ten dates--including the Aug. 2 kick-off in Hartford, Conn.--were set to hit the box office on Saturday (4/26). Both bands will be offering fans a shot at ticket pre-sales, as well as special ticketing packages, some of which include a chance to meet the groups, according to both bands' official websites: KISSonline.com and Aerosmith.com.
On Friday night (4/18), Aerosmith's Steven Tyler, Joe Perry and Tom Hamilton joined KISS anchormen Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley during a nationally broadcasted 90-minute radio program. The rockers talked about the summer tour, played music from their respective recording catalogs, and took calls from fans.
Aerosmith, whose most-recent studio set is 2001's "Just Push Play," is expected to release a "blues type album" some time this year, according to the group's fan club, Aero Force One.
KISS's most-recent studio effort is 1998's "Psycho Circus," which the group's original lineup recorded following a successful reunion tour.
In March of 2000, the original KISS lineup launched what it called its "Farewell Tour." The group has toured on and off ever since.
By early 2002, KISS founders Stanley (vocals, guitar) and Simmons (vocals, bass) had replaced original members Peter Criss (drums, vocals) and Ace Frehley (guitar, vocals) with musicians who wore Criss's and Frehley's costumes and make-up. Criss has since rejoined the group, while guitarist Tommy Thayer continues to portray Frehley's spaceman character.
Memphis quintet Saliva will open at all of the dates on the upcoming tour. The group is touring behind its second major-label release, last November's "Back Into Your System."
