Godsmack pumps up tour schedule as new album debuts at No. 1
When Godsmack hits the road next week for its spring tour, the group will be armed with material from the country's top-selling album, "Faceless."
Most, if not all, of the gaps in the group's May itinerary have been filled, and a handful of early June dates have also been set.
The Boston rock quartet continues to offer members of its recently launched fan club--the Voodoo Tribe--access to ticket pre-sales and special ticket packages, some of which include an opportunity to meet the band. Details are posted at the fan club's website.
Released on April 8, "Faceless" sold almost 267,000 copies during its first week in stores, according to industry sources. The tally places the album in the No. 1 slot on the forthcoming Billboard 200 album chart.
Fueling sales of "Faceless" is the album's first single, "Straight Out of Line," which has spent 10 weeks on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Tracks and Modern Rock Tracks charts.
Release-week appearances on both "Jimmy Kimmel Live" and "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" also helped spur sales of the new album.
"Faceless" is Godsmack's first album with new drummer Shannon Larkin, who last year replaced longtime drummer Tommy Stewart. David Bottrill, known for his work with Tool, produced the set.
