The Polyphonic Spree extends tour into June

Self-described "choral symphonic pop band" the Polyphonic Spree has added a second leg to its inaugural U.S. tour, a move that keeps the 23-member group on the road through mid June.

The band--which rose from the ashes of Tripping Daisy and is led by former Tripping Daisy frontman Tim DeLaughter--is known for performing clad in flowing white robes. Augmenting vocalist DeLaughter is a guitarist, a bassist, two percussionists, keyboardists, woodwind and strings specialists, brass players and a nine-member chorus.

The Dallas-based group, which opened its outing earlier this month, is scheduled to appear on ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" April 29.

The Polyphonic Spree 's first album, "The Beginning Stages ... ," was released last June. A new album is tentatively scheduled to hit stores at the end of the year; the group returns to the studio in May with producer Eric Drew Feldman (Frank Black and the Catholics, Sparklehorse).

Tripping Daisy split after guitarist Wes Berggren died of drug-related causes in 1999. The group's former bassist, Mark Pirro, is among the Polyphonic Spree's members.
