Kenny Chesney rolls out more summer tour dates

Kenny Chesney , who is about to embark on the latest leg of his U.S. tour behind last year's "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems," has mapped out dates through the end of July.

Chesney's itinerary includes a May 21 stop in Las Vegas, where he's scheduled to give the opening performance at this year's Academy of Country Music Awards. There's also a good chance that the singer will return to the stage during the event in order to give an acceptance speech or two; he's nominated in five categories, including Entertainer of the Year, Top Male Vocalist and Album of the Year for his multi-platinum 2002 release, "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems."

On May 26, Chesney graces the small screen again with his performance on "Willie Nelson & Friends," which will air on the USA Network. The event, which marks Nelson's 70th birthday, was recently taped in New York, and also features Norah Jones, Aerosmith's Steven Tyler, Eric Clapton, Ray Charles, Sheryl Crow, John Mellencamp and others.

Last May, Chesney's "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems" debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart. The singer's 2002 outing was the highest-grossing country tour of the year, according to Billboard, and Pollstar recently named Chesney the top ticket-seller of 2003's first quarter.

"You're out there, playing the dates, singing the songs--and truthfully, you're not even thinking about it," Chesney said in a statement. "You get out there, you hear those fans and you just go for it. Who knew so many people were coming? Because it's not about the head count… for us, it's all about how loud they get! We said all last year, 'You can sit down if you want to… or you can stand up and get rowdy with the rest of us.' Hearing about this Pollstar thing makes me think a whole lot more people were getting rowdy with us than we ever realized."

On Saturday (4/19), iN DEMAND pay-per-view is set to debut a previously recorded Chesney concert.
