Heart pumps out more tour dates behind forthcoming album
Heart has not announced a title or release date for its new studio set, but singer Ann Wilson recently posted a message on the group's website in which she said that it is expected to surface this spring. She also gave fans a hint as to what the album will sound like.
"The music is very rawkin'," she wrote, "but with a couple of beautiful, aching ballads too (we could never forget them!)."
Guitarist Nancy Wilson is producing the album, which follows last November's "The Essential Heart," a two-disc set featuring digitally remastered versions of Heart's slew of '70s- and '80s-era hits, such as "Crazy On You," "Barracuda," "Magic Man," "What About Love," "Never" and "These Dreams."
A complete track-list for "The Essential Heart" and streaming samples from the album are posted at Sony's Legacy Recordings website.
On April 29, the sisters will release "Heart - Alive in Seattle," a DVD version of the group's 2002 Pay Per View concert.
"It's fresh from the Summer of Love tour," Ann Wilson said, "and shows the guys who will be playing on the new Heart studio CD, as well as some of the new songs."
The Wilson sisters' backing band currently features bassist Mike Inez (Alice in Chains), guitarist Gilby Clarke (Guns N' Roses), drummer Ben Smith and keyboardist Darian Sahanaja.
