Cheap Trick To Stop Traffic With Free Parking Lot Show

September 25, 1999 06:06 PM
That '70s band Cheap Trick will perform a short, free live concert on Monday (9/27) at a Los Angeles Wherehouse Music store to promote the new season of the Fox television series "That '70s Show" and a new soundtrack. Cheap Trick has also recorded a new theme song for the comedy.

The event gets underway at 6:30 p.m. at the 7121 Sunset Boulevard Wherehouse location. After the performance, the band will be joined by the television show's cast to sign copies of the soundtrack ''That '70s Album (Rockin'),'' which is set for official release on Tuesday (9/28) on Volcano Records.

The album features 15 rock tracks from the 1970s, as well as Cheap Trick's newly recorded theme song for the show, which is based on the Alex Chilton/Chris Bell original ''In The Street.'' Another soundtrack CD titled ''That '70s Album (Jammin')'' will feature tracks from artists such as KC and The Sunshine Band, The Spinners, Rufus, Wild Cherry, Parliament and James Brown.

Cheap Trick, which has been touring heavily in celebration of its 25th Anniversary, has several North American dates on its October itinerary, as well as a short tour of Japan. The band is scheduled to play at Disney's MGM Studios in Orlando on New Year's Eve.
