San Francisco Earth Day fest to feature Alanis Morissette, Cake, Bonnie Raitt

San Francisco's Golden Gate Park will host the We the Planet Activism and Music Festival on April 20, an event that will feature Alanis Morissette , Cake and an acoustic set from Bonnie Raitt .

Concrete Blonde , the Coup and De La Soul are also confirmed for the show, with others to be announced, according to organizers.

According to promoters, the event "will be powered by green energy sources (bio-fuel, solar) and will model sustainability on every level of production and implementation."

Besides the big-name performers, the festival will feature "multi-cultural music and speakers, national and local non-profit organizations, interactive and educational displays, art, organic vegetarian cuisine, and green business vendors."

Any profits from the festival will benefit the Circle of Life, a non-profit organization founded in 1999 by Julia Butterfly Hill that "activates people through education, inspiration and connection to live in a way that honors the diversity and interdependence of all life."

Hill, who will be among the speakers at the festival, is best known for sitting in an ancient redwood tree for 738 days to prevent the tree from being cut down by loggers.

Tickets to the event start at $15. Ticketing and other information is available at the event's official website.
