Ringo Starr drafts new All-Starr Band for summer tour
Ex-Beatles drummer Ringo Starr has assembled the latest edition of his All-Starr Band, and will take it on the road for a major summer amphitheater tour.
This time around, his backing band will include bassist John Waite (formerly of Bad English and the Babys), keyboardist Paul Carrack (Squeeze, Mike and the Mechanics), guitarist Colin Hay (Men at Work), drummer Shiela E and sax player Mark Rivera.
Starr will issue a new album, titled "Ringo Rama," on March 25. Among the guest artists who contributed to the album are Eric Clapton, Willie Nelson, David Gilmour, Shawn Colvin, Timothy B. Schmit, Van Dyke Parks and Charlie Haden. Mark Hudson (Aerosmith, Baha Men) produced.
"There is a lot of me in these songs," Starr said in a statement. "As time goes on, my personality is coming out more and more in the music. On this album my drumming is more dynamic, I'm more to the front, I think I'm singing better and I believe we're writing better songs."
