Def Leppard fortifies spring tour plans
British rockers Def Leppard , who launch a stateside tour later this month, will stay on U.S. soil well into the spring thanks to a new batch of dates that stretches into May.
Tickets for a number of the new shows hit the box office on Saturday (3/8) morning. Fans who don't want to wait until then can visit the group's website to find out how to get a shot at pre-sale tickets.
Def Leppard's upcoming jaunt is part of the group's continued support for last year's aptly named "X." The album, which is the quintet's tenth, debuted at No. 11 on the Billboard 200 album chart following its release last July.
The band's official website houses a streaming version of the music video for the "X" track "Now." A follow-up single titled "Long Long Way to Go" was lined up for a late-February release, but those plans have been pushed back abroad, and have been scrapped altogether in North America, according to information posted at the band's site.
"A new date for the single release has not been determined yet," the site reads, "although the U.S. division of the record label has finally decided not to release the single in North America at all--neither for radio, nor commercially."
Though Def Leppard's commercial appeal in the U.S. has steadily softened over the past decade--particularly compared to its '80s and early-'90s heyday, when it churned out multi-platinum sets such as "Pyromania," "Hysteria" and "Adrenalize"--the band is still a strong concert draw, as evidenced by its upcoming string of dates at U.S. arenas and amphitheaters, as well as a sold-out, three-night stand at New York City's Beacon Theatre.
