The Eagles heading out on 'Farewell I' tour

Following last week's announcement of tour plans and a new fan club, the Eagles have begun filling in the blanks in their itinerary.

Dates for the run--dubbed the "Farewell I" tour--begin in early May, and stretch into mid July. Members of the Eagles' recently launched official fan club have a chance to participate in ticket pre-sales, and the general public will get their first shot a tickets to a number of shows on March 10, according to organizers.

The Eagles--Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit--will be performing music from throughout their 30-year career. A source indicates that the tour has been dubbed the "Farewell I" tour in jest, and that the title instead alludes to the likelihood of subsequent outings.

Last summer, the Eagles executed a 30-city U.S. tour that ran from May through late July. The handful of dates released thus far for the "Farewell I" tour indicates a similar timetable.

Last March, singer-drummer Don Henley said that the Eagles were working on their first collection of new material since 1979's "The Long Run." A spokesperson for the group said that the group still hasn't finished the album.

Over the course of their three-decade career, the Eagles have sold more than 120 million albums worldwide, and have garnered four No. 1 U.S. singles and four Grammy Awards, according to the group's publicist. Their hits compilation, "Greatest Hits 1971-1975," which has sold over 27 million copies, is the top-selling album of all time in the U.S.

The group was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.
