American Hi-Fi backs sophomore effort with club tour
Rock quartet American Hi-Fi hits the road to support its latest release, "The Art of Losing," and brings several acts along for the ride.
The group's upcoming tour will feature support from The Early November, whose debut EP "For All of This" surfaced on MCA last November; Trouble Is, which is scheduled to drop its debut album this spring; Allister, which released its sophomore effort, "Last Stop Suburbia," last October; Count the Stars, which released its debut album "Never Be Taken Alive" on Tuesday (2/25); Squad Five-O, whose self-titled debut hit stores last March; Fallout Boy, which delivers "Take This to Your Grave" on May 6; and Bleach, which released "Again for the First Time" last summer.
The aforementioned support acts rotate throughout the tour. More information is posted in the tour section of American Hi-Fi's website, as well as at a special contest page attached to the tour.
American Hi-Fi's "The Art of Losing," which landed in stores on Tuesday (2/25), is ushered in by its title track, which recently became the most-added song at rock radio, according to Island Records. The song is streaming at the group's website.
In December, the band shot a video for the new single with director Chris Applebaum, who also directed the clip for the band's 2000 breakthrough hit, "Flavor of the Weak." The new video was shot at a house party in Hays, Kan.--about four hours outside of Kansas City--at a house where singer Stacy Jones had first hung out following a September 2002 tour stop in Hays. The homeowner invited 500 people over for the shoot.
Boston-based American Hi-Fi recorded "The Art of Losing" in Los Angeles, and tracked all of the songs live, without using technological studio aids such as Pro Tools. Nick Launay--who has worked with Nick Cave, Silverchair and Girls Against Boys--produced the set.
The band's new album is the follow-up to its self-titled 2000 debut, which spawned the hit "Flavor of the Weak." The song earned the group a Song of the Year award at last year's Boston Music Awards.
