Idlewild goes it alone before Pearl Jam run
Idlewild , which was recently tapped to open a stretch of dates on Pearl Jam 's upcoming tour, kicks off an ambitious U.S. club tour of its own in early March.
In addition to preceding the group's late-May/early-June stint with Pearl Jam, the Scottish rock quintet's jaunt also gets underway a few weeks prior to the March 25 U.S. release of the band's new album, "The Remote Part." The set is the follow-up to 2001's critically acclaimed "100 Broken Windows."
Idlewild released "The Remote Part" in the U.K. last July. The album hit No. 3 on the U.K. album chart and spawned four hit singles, according to the group's publicist.
The band's official website features a video interview in which the band comments on each of the album's 11 tracks.
Originally formed as a quartet, the group's permanent lineup now features founding members Roddy Wooble (vocals), Rod Jones and Colin Newton, as well as new bassist Gavin Fox and new guitarist Allan Stewart. Fox replaces bassist Bob Farifoull, whom the group booted last fall, while Stewart was promoted after serving as the group's touring guitarist.
