Pearl Jam unveils plans for new 'bootleg' series
Pearl Jam , which immortalized its 2000 tour by releasing on CD 72 complete shows from the outing, will do it again on the band's upcoming tour of Australia and Japan.
The grunge-rock survivors will record and release as a "bootleg" each of the 15 shows, which take place between Feb. 8 and March 6.
Members of the band's fan club who pre-order the "bootlegs" will be able to download an MP3 file of each show the day after the performance, according to Epic Records.
The limited-edition CDs will initially be sold only via the Pearl Jam Store website.
"The fully mastered physical double CD will be shipped to arrive at your home 7-10 business days after the performance and we'll try our darned hardest to get it there by then," reads a message posted at the site.
In 2000, all of the Pearl Jam "bootlegs" eventually were also available in stores, but retail information hasn't been announced for the new albums.
Members of the Ten Club can purchase the CDs for $12.98 per show, or $194.70 for all 15 shows. The non-member price will be $14.98 per show and $224.70 for the full set. Shipping charges will be added to each order.
Fourteen of the 72 "bootlegs" that were released following Pearl Jam's 2000 tour entered the Billboard 200 album chart.
Pearl Jam will follow its tours of Australia and Japan with a North American tour that gets underway on April 1.
