Winter club tour ahead for Erykah Badu
Though there's no word on when a new album might be on the way, Dallas-born R&B artist Erykah Badu will embark on an extensive club tour this winter.
Badu hasn't released a new studio album since 2000's platinum-certified "Mama's Gun," but she still managed to pick up three GRAMMY® nominations this week for her 2002 single "Love Of My Life (An Ode To Hip Hop)."
The song, which also features rapper Common, appeared on the soundtrack to the film "Brown Sugar." It is nominated for Best Urban/Alternative Performance, Best R&B Song, and Best Song Written for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media.
There are already three GRAMMYs in Badu's trophy case, two of which she earned for her 1997 debut album, "Baduzm." In 1999, she won Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for the track "You Got Me," which appears on The Roots' album "Things Fall Apart."
Badu is also nominated for several NAACP Image Awards, which will be presented on March 8.
According to Badu's official website she began work on a new album last year. No release date has been announced.
