Vince Gill gets intimate on 'Back 2 Basics' tour
A new Vince Gill album titled "Next Best Thing" arrives in stores on Feb. 11, and the country singer will back it with an extensive tour.
The outing--dubbed the Back 2 Basics tour--will open with five nights of "live band rehearsals" at Nashville's Exit/In club.
"I just thought it would be fun to go and set up in one place for a few nights and be the 'house band'," Gill said in a press release.
The tour generally will focus on venues that hold fewer than 1,000 fans, so Gill will be performing in more intimate settings than usual. The set list is expected to showcase new material as well as old favorites.
Gill debuted the title track from "Next Best Thing" in November while hosting the CMA Awards ceremony for the 11th time.
A native of Norman, Okla., Gill has won 14 GRAMMY® Awards, which ties him with the late Chet Atkins for the most by a country artist. Gill has also won 18 CMA Awards, more than any other artist in history.
