Yanni's tour to touch down in more than 50 cities
New Age keyboardist and arranger Yanni is taking to the road to support his 2000 album "If I Could Tell You," which, at the time of its release, marked his first studio album in seven years.
The tour's first leg will visit well over 50 North American cities from March to June. Though the album surfaced more than two years ago, Yanni went on a sabbatical shortly after its release.
Yanni's last major North American tour took place in 1998, and ranked among that year's top-grossing concert outings.
His promotion "If I Could Tell You" got into full swing last month when his new television special, titled "Live at Royal Albert Hall, London," debuted on PBS.
Yanni, a Greek native who graduated from the University of Minnesota with a B.A. in psychology before embarking on his musical career, also made several December appearances at PBS broadcast studios during pledge events.
"If I Could Tell You," Yanni's 12th album, follows two multi-platinum live albums: 1994's "Yanni: Live at the Acropolis" (which was recorded in Athens the year before) and 1997's "Tribute" (which was recorded during concerts at India's Taj Mahal and China's Forbidden City).
Miramax Books will publish a memoir by Yanni on Feb. 12. He wrote it in collaboration with David Rensin, who has co-authored best-selling books by Tim Allen, Chris Rock and Garry Shandling.
