Elvis Costello gets "Cruel" for the U.S.

Alt-pop legend Elvis Costello will tour the U.S. in support of his new album, "When I Was Cruel" (Island). It is his first album of all new material since 1996's "All This Useless Beauty." The tour kicks off May 18 in Portland, OR.

According to the website Elvis Costello Online, Costello will also make in-store appearances at Tower Records in Philadelphia, Chicago and New York, and play a free radio show April 21 at Chicago's House of Blues. Ticket for that show are available through WXRT Radio's official website.

"When I Was Cruel" is scheduled to be released April 23.
