Blink-182 and Green Day link for Pop Disaster tour
update: Fellow pop-punk rockers Blink-182 and Green Day have unveiled plans for a lengthy spring co-headlining run dubbed the Pop Disaster tour. Cities and dates for most of the outing have been confirmed, though venues are yet to be announced.
The two-month road trip is due to kick off in mid-April. More dates will be added to the run next week, according to a Blink-182 spokesperson.
Blink-182 singer-guitarist Tom DeLonge announced on MTV's "Total Request Live" that Jimmy Eat World will open during the first half of the tour, and Saves the Day will open during the second half.
Pre-sale tickets will go on sale via MTV's official website on Feb. 21, according to the network.
The Pop Disaster tour will mark the latest round of dates for Blink-182's road work in support of last June's "Take Off Your Pants and Jacket" (MCA), which has sold about 1.7 million copies to date, according to industry sources. The band recently completed a European outing.
Green Day, meanwhile, is backing last November's "International Superhits!" (Warner Bros.), a 21-track collection comprising 19 previously released hits and two new songs, "Maria" and "Poprocks & Coke." The group will precede the Pop Disaster outing with a Japanese tour that kicks off in late March.
