Prince plots long-delayed tour
Months after canceling a planned North American arena tour, Prince has scheduled a downsized theater run to kick off in early March.
Registered members of Prince's NPG Music Club, a paid subscription service, will be able to participate in ticket pre-sales, two of which launch on Thursday (2/14). Public on-sales will follow on Saturday (2/16) and Monday (2/18). On-sale dates were available at press time for only three of the six newly announced shows, and appear in the itinerary below.
Early last year, Prince launched the NPG Music Club, through which he has been distributing digital downloads of his music over the Internet and selling merchandise through a members-only online store. Members who joined for the $100 annual fee were able to download his latest album, "The Rainbow Children," last October, more than one month before the release hit retail outlets.
Last June, Prince launched a 28-date North American arena tour, but canceled the outing without explanation after playing only a handful of dates.
