B.B. King's tour plans reach into April
After spending the latter part of 2001 promoting “A Christmas Celebration of Hope” (MCA), his first holiday album, blues legend B.B. King is back on the road pushing “Here and There: The Uncollected B.B. King.” This tour focuses on the casino circuit through early March.
It has been a busy time for King. On Jan. 11, Foxwoods Resort Casino, dubbed “the world’s largest casino,” opened the B.B. King Dance Club and B.B. King Night Club, which offer dancing, jazz, blues and comedy in the adjoining venues. King has three other clubs, in New York City, Los Angeles and Memphis.
He is featured in television ads for Burger King, as well as an advertising campaign for XM Satellite Radio called “Radio to the Power X.”
Released in late 2001, “A Christmas Celebration of Hope” is a 13-track collection comprised of traditional holiday favorites with a blues spin. "Here and There: The Uncollected B.B. King," includes duets with Willie Nelson, Albert Collins, Gary Burton and Grover Washington Jr.
King also turns up on Tony Bennett's latest album, "Playing With My Friends: Bennett Sings the Blues" (RPM Records/Columbia), on which he and Bennett sing "Let the Good Times Roll."
