Charts: Jackson continues domination; Blige leaps ahead
For the third week in a row, Alan Jackson 's "Drive" will top Billboard 200 album chart, according to industry sources. Eight of the nine other Top 10 releases also remain unmoved. The only newcomer to the group is the reissue of Mary J. Blige's "No More Drama," which jumped 18 spots in one week.
Originally released last August, the Grammy-nominated "No More Drama" (MCA) was reissued last week with several new cuts, including a new mix of the title track featuring P. Diddy, a remix of "Dance for Me" featuring Common and two previously unreleased tracks: "Rainy Dayz" featuring Ja Rule and "He Think I Don't Know." Brisk sales of the album's new version propel it up the chart from No. 28--where the original version sat last week--to No. 10 this time around. (Blige appeared in the Super Bowl pre-game show on Feb. 3.)
Jackson's "Drive" (Arista), meanwhile, remains the top-selling album in the U.S. for the third consecutive week, despite a one-week sales drop-off of about 40,000 copies. The album has now sold about 840,000 copies, according to industry sources.
Also staying put this week are Creed's "Weathered" (Wind-Up) at No. 2, Linkin Park's "Hybrid Theory" (Warner Bros.) at No. 3, Ludacris' "Word of Mouf" (Def Jam) at No. 4, Nickelback's "Silver Side Up" (Roadrunner) at No. 5, Ja Rule's "Pain Is Love" (Def Jam) at No. 6, Nas' "Stillmatic" (Columbia) at No. 7, Usher's "8701" (Arista) at No. 8 and Pink's "Missundaztood" (Arista) at No. 9.
Making debuts outside of the Top 10 are Def Jam's "State Property" soundtrack at No. 14, the two-disc "Essential Barbra Streisand" (Columbia) hits collection at No. 15, the Chemical Brothers "Come with Us" (Astralwerks) at No. 32, Dream Theater's "Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence" (Elektra) at No. 46, Jaguar Wright's "Denials, Delusions and Decisions" (MCA) at No. 56, Unwritten Law's "Elva" (Interscope) at No. 73, Bill Gaither's "Freedom Band" (Spring House) at No. 86 and Hank Williams III's "Lovesick, Broke & Driftin'" (Curb) at No. 156.
