Beck Tour Tackles Western U.S. In April

Three-time Grammy winner Beck has lined up a nine-city tour that will run from late April through early May. The West Coast tour, in support of the funky alt-rock album "Midnite Vultures," will follow a European jaunt that gets underway in March.

Ticket onsale dates for the U.S. leg, which also includes a stop in Denver, hadn't been announced at press time. Following a two-night-stand May 5 and 6 at the Greek Theatre in his hometown of Los Angeles, Beck will end the month with a tour of Japan.

After playing a series of holiday radio festivals, he embarked in January on a 12-city North American tour that focused on the Midwest and East.

Beck picked up a Grammy on Wednesday (2/23) in the Alternative Music Performance category for his "Mutations" album. He won a Grammy in the same category in 1996 for the album ''Odelay;'' also that year, he won the Rock Male Vocal Grammy for the track "Where It's At."

Following a long legal battle that netted Beck a restructured contract, "Midnite Vultures" was released last November.
