Tour plans unfolding for Bonnie Raitt
update: As the release date of her 16th album quickly approaches, blues-rocker Bonnie Raitt is lining up a series of spring and summer tour dates that now stretches into mid-June.
Raitt, who entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002, is currently scheduled to begin her road work with a series of theater dates in late March and early April. In May, she will play several festival dates, after which her headlining theater run will resume.
The musicians backing Raitt on the upcoming dates comprise those with whom she recorded her forthcoming album, "Silver Lining": her longtime rhythm section--guitarist George Marinelli, bassist James "Hutch" Hutchinson and drummer Ricky Fataar--along with new addition Jon Cleary, a renowned British blues pianist and composer.
Capitol Records will release "Silver Lining" on April 9. The album's title track was penned by David Gray, and appeared on his 1999 album "White Ladder." The album also features two songs by Tommy Sims, Gordon Kennedy and Wayne Kirkpatrick, the team that wrote the Eric Clapton Hit "Change the World."
Raitt, Mitchell Froom and Tchad Blake--a team that first collaborated on Raitt's last record, 1998's "Fundamental"--produced the new album.
