Wilco confirms album release date, lines up short tour

Chicago-based act Wilco has announced a release date for its much-anticipated album "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot." Nonesuch Records will release the album on April 23. Prior to the release, the band will play a handful of West Coast dates during March.

According to band's official website, Wilco will mount a proper world tour following the release of "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot," but dates have yet to be announced.

Reprise Records, the band's former label, rejected "Foxtrot" in 2001 on the grounds that it was un-commercial. The band was able to exit Reprise and buy back the rights to the album. It announced a deal with Nonesuch late last year.

During a recent concert in San Francisco, Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy asked the audience, "So, how many of you have [a bootleg copy of] our record? Let's see a show of hands." Many people raised their hands, and Tweedy said, "Great. We are off to a great start: zero sold."
