Rock act Machine Head [ tickets ] is supporting its latest album, “Supercharger,” with a U.S. tour that is slated to run through most of the spring.

So far, dates for the jaunt have been announced through March 8, when Machine Head plays in San Diego. On the tour, which kicked off on Jan. 20, the band is joined by openers Darwin’s Waiting Room and 3rd Strike. An announcement of more dates is expected soon.

The tour was originally scheduled to start on Jan. 10, but lead singer Robert Flynn sprained his wrist snowboarding, according to a message posted on the band’s website.

The Bay Area-based group released the self-produced “Supercharger” (Roadrunner Records) last October, and has begun work on its follow-up--a live album that was recorded at the Brixton Academy in London--expected to be released later this year.

Darwin’s Waiting Room is pushing its major-label debut, “Orphan” (MCA), which was mixed by influential knob-turner Bob Clearmountain. (In November, Darwin’s Waiting Room was forced to cancel two of its shows after drummer Joe Perrone, fractured his elbow in a skate boarding accident in Omaha, Neb.)

Punk band 3rd Strike is set to release its debut for Hollywood Records in May.
