Charts: Alan Jackson knocks Creed from top spot with 'Drive'

After spending eight consecutive weeks at No. 1, Creed 's "Weathered" will take a back seat to Alan Jackson 's "Drive" on the forthcoming Billboard 200 album chart, according to industry sources. Jackson's No. 1 debut is the only newcomer to this week's Top 10.

During its first week in stores, "Drive" (Arista) sold about 423,000 copies. Propelling the album was Jackson's No. 1 hit, "Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)." The song, which was written in response to the events of Sept. 11, is Jackson's fastest-charting single ever. The country singer performed the song at last November's Country Music Awards.

After selling about 300,000 copies less than "Drive," Creed's "Weathered" (Wind-Up) sees its lengthy run atop the chart come to end this week as it slides into the No. 2 slot. The album had been at No. 1 since its release last November.

Also bumped down a notch is last year's top-selling album, Linkin Park's "Hybrid Theory" (Warner Bros.), which sits at No. 3.

At No. 4 is Nickelback's "Silver Side Up" (Roadrunner), which is one of only two albums that stays in the same position that it occupied last week.

Ludacris' "Word of Mouf" (Def Jam) slips from No. 3 to No. 5. Labelmate Ja Rule's "Pain Is Love" is up one spot to No. 6, thanks to the single "Always on Time," the No. 1 track on Billboard's latest Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart.

Fellow rapper Nas sees his "Stillmatic" (Columbia) drop two notches to No. 7, while Usher's "8701" jumps back into the Top 10 at No. 8, up from No. 12 last week. The latter album features current hit "U Got It Bad."

Pink's "Missundaztood" (Arista) and Enya's "A Day Without Rain" (Reprise) round out the Top 10, with the former down from No. 6 to No. 9, and the latter staying put at No. 10. "A Day Without Rain," which saw its sales jump after the track "Only Time" became a post-Sept. 11 radio staple, has been on the chart for 61 weeks.

Debuts taking place further down the chart are led by Willie Nelson's "The Great Divide" (Lost Highway), which clocks in at No. 43, followed by the posthumous Frank Sinatra release "Greatest Love Songs" (Warner Bros.), which enters the chart at No. 76.
