Santana plots spring U.S. tour dates
Santana has lined up a short series of southern U.S. performances that will precede a May European outing. The band, led by legendary guitarist Carlos Santana, has also announced plans for more U.S. dates later this year.
The dates kick off in Florida in late March, and shows are currently scheduled through early April. Tickets for four shows, including the March 21 kick-off in Tampa, are scheduled to go on sale on either Friday (1/25) or Saturday (1/26). Details appear in the itinerary below. Additional on-sale dates are expected soon.
The group also will tour the U.S. this summer and fall, according to its official website, but details about those dates haven't been confirmed.
Santana is currently working on the follow-up to its hugely successful 1999 release, "Supernatural" (Arista). The new album is expected to surface later this year.
The Grammy-award winning "Supernatural," which spawned the No. 1 hit "Smooth," has shipped over 14 million copies in the U.S., according to the RIAA.
