From a press release:
Phish guitarist and singer Trey Anastasio will release his as yet untitled debut solo album on Elektra on April 30 and support it with a North American tour beginning in late May. The album was recorded in Anastasio's barn studio in Vermont over the past nine months and was co-produced by Anastasio and Bryce Goggin, who also produced Phish's last studio release, 2000's "Farmhouse." Anastasio is backed on the album by the seven-piece band that he toured with in 2001 (including a four-piece horn section), plus appearances by numerous other guests and a 35-piece orchestra.
Variety reported that an opera based on Bruce Springsteen's music, titled "Drive All Night," has been developed by director Darrell Larson and co-creator Stephanie Kerly Schwartz. A reading of the work is reportedly scheduled for early March in New York.
Warner Bros. Online will webcasting several performances from last year's Silver Lining Silver Lake benefit concert in Los Angeles. Currently available on the website is Red Hot Chili Peppers' set.
During the coming months, Warner Bros. Online will also present performances from the event by Sting, Aimee Mann, Jurassic 5, Bostich from Nortec Collective, Jaguares, Deborah Falconer and Daniel Lanois from the event.
New York's Carnegie Hall has discontinued its 16-member jazz band, the New York Times reported today. Led by trumpeter Jon Faddis, the band debuted in 1992 as part of Carnegie Hall's 100th anniversary celebrations.
