Joan Baez's tour plans take shape

Legendary folk singer Joan Baez will get her 2002 touring schedule underway next month by launching a tour of the Eastern seaboard.
Fellow singer-songwriter Richard Shindell will be the opening act, according to a press release. Contemporary folk duo Dave Carter and Tracy Grammer will perform as members of Baez's backing band.
In March, Vanguard Records plans to release digitally remastered versions of 1963's "Joan Baez in Concert, Part 1" and "Joan Baez in Concert, Part 2." Last summer, the label released editions of "Joan Baez" (1960) and "Joan Baez Vol. 2" (1961)--her first two albums--as well as "Noel" (1966).
Vanguard plans to re-release a total of 14 of Baez's early works, all of which feature several bonus tracks not found on the original versions, as well as new artwork and liner notes, according to Baez's publicist.
