Backstreet Boys ' Nick Carter, who was arrested in Tampa, Fla., early Wednesday morning (1/2) after he allegedly refused to comply with police officers who had ordered him to leave a nightclub, issued a statement about the incident on Thursday (1/3).
"I have done nothing wrong," Carter's statement said. "My arrest at Pop City nightclub last night was a result of simply moving too slow. I was attempting to comply with an officer's request to leave a club when I was detained and given a citation."
He added, "I truly believe my celebrity motivated the officer to arrest me. I am certain that after a full investigation of the facts my name will be cleared.
Former EMF bassist Zac Foley died on Thursday (1/3), according to the band's official website. Details on the cause of death were not available at press time. Foley was 31.
EMF is best known for the song "Unbelievable."
High Times magazine has founded High Times Records. Its first release, "THC (The Hip-Hop Collection) Vol. 1," is due on April 16 and features songs from RZA, B-Real, the Pharcyde, among others.
TLC rapper Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes is recording an album for Suge Knight's Tha Row label, Sonicnet reported. She reportedly is recording under the name N.I.N.A., and the album is expected to hit stores later this month.
