Charts: Creed's 'Weathered' to spend its sixth week at No. 1
"Weathered," the third album from Florida rock trio Creed , saw its sales more than halved during Christmas week, after enjoying a sharp spike during the final shopping week leading up to the holiday. Nevertheless, the album remains at No. 1 on the forthcoming Billboard 200 album chart, its sixth consecutive week in the slot.
After selling about 865,000 copies during the week prior to Christmas, sales of "Weathered" (Wind-Up) dipped to about 400,000 last week, according to industry sources. The album, which features the group's hit "My Sacrifice," has now sold about 3.5 million copies.
Sales of about 263,000 copies propel Linkin Park's "Hybrid Theory" (Warner Bros.) from No. 7 to No. 2. The leap can be partly attributed to the success of the group's latest single, "In the End," which has spent the past three weeks at No. 1 on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart.
The "Now That's What I Call Music! Vol. 8" (Virgin) compilation slips one notch to No. 3 this week. It is followed at No. 4 by Ludacris' "Word of Mouf" (Def Jam), which is one of two Def Jam albums making a 12-spot leap back into the Top 10 this week. "Word of Mouf"'s latest single, "Rollout (My Business)," sits at No. 8 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart.
Nickelback's "Silver Side Up" (Roadrunner) continues its climb up the chart by advancing one rung to No. 5, while Usher's "8701" (La Face/Arista) moves to No. 6 from No. 9.
Enya's "A Day Without Rain" (Reprise), which has now sold just over 5 million copies, slips two places to No. 7.
Following Enya at No. 8 is Ja Rule's "Pain Is Love" (Def Jam), which, like Ludacris' "Word of Mouf," jumps 12 spots to land back in the Top 10. The album's track "Livin' It Up" rose to No. 1 on Billboard's latest Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart.
Closing out the Top 10 is Nas' "Stillmatic" (Columbia), which debuted last week at No. 8 and now drops to No. 9, and Pink's "Missundaztood" (La Face/Arista), which is spending its second consecutive week at No. 10.
With the Christmas holiday landing on a Tuesday this year, no new albums hit stores last week, thus precluding any new entries on this week's chart.
Showing notable movement outside of the Top 10 is OutKast's "Big Boi and Dre Present … OutKast" (La Face/Arista), up 16 spots to No. 21; Busta Rhymes' "Genesis" (J Records), which jumps 18 spots to No. 26; and System of a Down's "Toxicity" (Columbia), up 17 spots to No. 30.
