Backstreet Boy A.J. Goes Solo For Charity
A.J. McLean of Backstreet Boys will go solo for an eight-city mini-tour that will benefit VH1's Save The Music Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports school music programs. A.J.--who will perform under the moniker Johnny No Name--is scheduled to open the tour on March 27 in Los Angeles.
liveDaily's Ticket Alert reports that tickets are scheduled to go on sale today (3/17) at 5 p.m. for A.J.'s performance in Detroit. Shows in Las Vegas, Milwaukee, and Minnesota go on sale on Saturday (3/18).
In a Monday interview with MTV News, A.J.'s mother and manager, Denise McLean, said that A.J.'s hour-long set will include covers of Stone Temple Pilots, Eminem and Brian McKnight songs, as well as "If You Knew What I Knew," a song penned by A.J.
According to MTV, Backstreet Boys' backing band will appear with A.J. Opening acts will include Nobody's Angel percussionist Mindy Abair.
A.J. is scheduled to appear on a Yahoo! online chat today (3/17) at 8 p.m. EST to promote the tour.
A.J. played a solo gig at the Hard Rock Café in Orlando in December as Johnny Suede. That performance raised $42,000 for charity.
