Briefly: Nirvana, Third Eye Blind
plus: Green Day at Winter X Games. New Down album due in March. Our Lady Peace guitarist exits.
Ex-Nirvana members Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl have countersued Courtney Love, claiming breach of contract. They allege that the widow of the band's frontman Kurt Cobain wronged them by blocking the release of a Nirvana box set on the 10th anniversary of the "Nevermind" (Geffen) album. "You Know You're Right," one of the last songs Cobain recorded before his 1994 suicide, was to be included in the set.
"Those who deal directly with her can attest that the case is really about securing more money to support Love's prima donna lifestyle," the suit said, according to published reports. "Her rhetoric about fighting for the underdog is revealed as window dressing when one examines her treatment of her ex-husband's former partners."

Organizers of Silver Lining Silver Lake, the three-night series of Los Angeles benefit concerts featuring Elton John and Sting, have announced some changes.
The series was originally scheduled for Thursday through Saturday (12/13-15), but the Saturday show has been canceled following the pulling-out of Third Eye Blind .
Beck, who was originally scheduled to perform on Saturday, will now perform on Friday.
Green Day will perform for fans and athletes at Winter X Games VI in Aspen, Colo., on Jan. 19. Fans can enter a contest to win airfare to the show at Green Day's official website.
Down--consisting of Phil Anselmo and Rex Brown of Pantera, Corrosion of Conformity's Pepper Keenan, Jimmy Bower of Eye Hate God and Kirk Windstein of Crowbar--is readying a new album, scheduled to hits stores in March 2002.
Citing "musical and creative differences," Our Lady Peace guitarist Mike Turner has left the band. The rest of the group is currently recording with producer Bob Rock in Hawaii, and plans to release its fifth album in 2002. No replacement guitarist has been named.
