The Breeders to kick off club tour in January
A year after reconstituting themselves, the Breeders are set to hit the road in their first full-on club tour in over eight years.
According to agents for the Kim Deal-led band, the Breeders will begin a month long tour, kicking off in Albuquerque, N.M. on Jan. 28, and will remain on the road for a month.
As they've done in their sporadic club appearances over the past year, the Breeders will be previewing material like "Forced to Drive," "Fire the Maid," and "Full on Idol," from their forthcoming Steve Albini-produced album. The CD, tentatively called "Title TK," is due out on Elektra Records next year.
"We don't have a firm release date yet," said a label spokesperson, "but I do know that the album is finished."
In addition to Deal and her sister Kelley, the band now comprises guitarist Richard Presley, bassist Mando Lopez and drummer Jose Medeles--all from '80s hardcore band Fear.
Kim Deal started the ball rolling for a Breeders reunion back in 1999, when she met with Albini in Chicago, and the two decided to go into his Electrical Audio studio, where Kim recorded three songs, working as a one-woman band. She was later joined in the studio by sister Kelley. Things went so well, that the twosome performed together at Chicago's now-defunct Lounge Ax, and immediately began making plans to reform the band.
