Alicia Keys schedules U.S. solo tour

Pianist-singer-songwriter Alicia Keys , who opened several dates for R&B singer Maxwell this fall, is heading out on her first major U.S. headlining tour on Jan. 22. She will be on the road for nearly two months.

Keys' first album, "Songs in A Minor" (J Records), debuted last summer at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart, besting the likes of D12 and Jagged Edge. The album has been certified triple-platinum, marking sales of more than three million, and currently sits at No. 23 on the Billboard 200 chart.

The New York native will perform in Tuesday’s (12/4) Billboard Music Awards show in Las Vegas, to be broadcast live on Fox. Keys is up for eight awards, including Female Artist of the Year and New Artist of the Year.

In other Keys news, a new song, titled "Fight," appears on the soundtrack (Interscope) to the Will Smith film "Ali." The soundtrack also includes previously unreleased material by R. Kelly, Angie Stone and Everlast, among others.
