Stereophonics announce rescheduled North American run
Stereophonics , who twice this year canceled a planned North American outing, are giving it another go with a series of dates beginning in late January. The Brit-pop trio is touring in support of this year's "Just Enough Education to Perform" (V2).
"Just Enough Education to Perform" (V2), Stereophonics third full-length, surfaced in April, and debuted at No. 188 on the Billboard 200 album chart. Well known in the U.K. for a series of chart-topping singles, the group has scored its first U.S. hit with the album's track "Have a Nice Day," which sits at No. 33 on Billboard's latest Adult Top 40 chart.
Stereophonics have been nominated in the International Category for this year's My VH1 Awards, which is set to air on Sunday night (12/2). The group is up against the Corrs, Craig David, Robbie Williams and Coldplay.
On Monday (12/3), the band plans to release as a single its cover version of Rod Stewart's "Handbags and Gladrags," which does not appear on any of the group's albums. The track, which the band recorded earlier this year, also features Jools Holland and His Rhythm and Blues Orchestra, according to Stereophonics' official website.
Early next year, the group plans to release a DVD of its headlining performances at last July's a Day at the Races festivals in the U.K. A specific release date has not been set.
Stereophonics had originally planned to tour North America in May, but had to postpone that jaunt when singer-guitarist Kelly Jones fell ill. An opening stint for U2's European tour dates followed in July and August.
The postponed North American run was rescheduled for September, and was due to kick off on Sept. 14. The group scrapped those plans following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
