Briefly: STP's Scott Weiland jailed on domestic violence charge
plus: Brian Wilson tours Europe. 'NSync bobbleheads. New version of Bee Gees track. Boyz II Men on parade.
Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland was booked on one count of domestic battery and jailed for 12 hours on Monday (11/19). According to police, he got into a fight with his wife in a room at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
A police report said that Weiland's wife, Mary, attempted to keep him from leaving the room to pick up a prescription. She told police that "as time went on, [Weiland] got more physical with me by hitting me against a wall and stepping on me."
Weiland, who has a history of drug abuse, told police that his doctor prescribed the medication for a knee injury.
The arrest occurred following a Stone Temple Pilots performance at the Hard Rock. A second show is scheduled to go on as planned tonight.
Brian Wilson, in his first performances as a solo artist outside the U.S. and Japan, will open a European tour in London on Jan. 28. He will be backed by a 10-piece band. An itinerary is posted on Wilson's official website.
A bobblehead figure of 'NSync's JC Chasez will be available at Best Buy stores on Saturday (11/24), and bobblehead renderings of the group's four other members will follow. The figures will be priced at $9.99 with a minimum $25 purchase.
Best Buy will donate $1 million in proceeds from the sales to charity.
Universal Records said that the first pressing of "Bee Gees: Their Greatest Hits--The Record," released today (11/20), contains a previously unreleased version of "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart." According to the label, that version "made its way onto [this pressing] when the wrong master was apparently delivered for production," and won't be included on subsequent pressings.
Boyz II Men will perform their hit "Thank You" on the New York Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade route.
