Maxwell offers up more dates, with Angie Stone opening
On Thursday night (11/8), R&B crooner Maxwell kicked off the latest leg of his outing in support of this year's "Now." His itinerary features a number of new stops that will keep him on the tour trail into mid December.
Angie Stone has been tapped to open for Maxwell on the latest round of dates, according to his management. Previous openers were female R&B singers Alicia Keys and RES.
Released on Aug. 21, "Now" (Columbia) sold more than 296,000 copies during its first week in stores, according to Columbia, and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart. Now down to No. 41 in its 11th week on the chart, the album has sold just over 1 million copies, according to industry sources, and was certified platinum in September by the Recording Industry Association of America.
The album features the hit single "Lifetime," which is spending the latest of several consecutive weeks at No. 1 on trade publication Radio & Records' Urban AC airplay chart. The song's companion music video, meanwhile, sits at No. 18 on MTV's latest Top 20 Videos chart.
"Mahogany Soul" (J Records), Stone's latest, landed in stores on Tuesday (11/6). The album features the first single "Brotha."
