Garth Brooks sets Los Angeles concert appearance
Garth Brooks , who hasn't played a full concert for three years, has scheduled a Nov. 14 show at the Great Western Forum near Los Angeles, radio station KZLA announced on Friday (11/2). There are no plans for a full tour.
Tickets for the show will go on sale on Tuesday (11/6) at 10 a.m. Pacific Time via Ticketmaster's charge by phone and Ticketmaster.com only. Tickets will not be sold at Ticketmaster retail outlets or at the Forum box office. (Ticketmaster is liveDaily's parent company.)
According to an announcement on KZLA.com, tickets will be priced at $18 each, plus a $4 service charge per ticket and a $2.25 charge per order. There is a six-ticket limit.
Brooks, who has vowed never to tour again, hasn't been on the road since he concluded a grueling, three-year outing in November 1998. He played 350 shows in 100 cities over that period, performing to nearly 5.5 million people, according to Amusement Business. Even though all tickets were priced at $20 or less, the tour grossed more than $100 million.
Though Brooks hinted at a recent press conference that some specials for the CBS television network were in the works, no official announcement has been issued.
Brooks' new album, "Scarecrow," is scheduled for release on Nov. 13, a day before the concert takes place. He claims that the album will be his last. "We announced our retirement, and we'll stick to that," Brooks recently told Billboard. "If for some reason we do explore music again, I can only hope we're welcomed back like Michael Jordan or Mario Lemieux."
Brooks also is slated to perform in a production of "Lime Creek Christmas" with actor Anthony Zerbe on Dec. 8 in Sheridan, Wyo., and on Dec. 9 in Nashville. Brooks will play acoustic "Christmas songs and other appropriate music throughout Zerbe's dramatic performance," according to a press release.
