Tony Bennett opens promotional push, sets concert dates

update: Ten-time Grammy Award-winner Tony Bennett [ tickets ] is beginning the promotional push for his forthcoming record "Playin' with My Friends: Bennett Sings the Blues." The legendary singer is also laying out some tour plans for 2002.

Bennett is slated to appear at the opening of the Nasdaq market at 9:30 a.m. on Monday (11/5), one day before "Playin' with My Friends" hits stores. The native New Yorker is then scheduled to perform at a tribute to New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani on Nov. 14, an event that will raise money for the Twin Towers Fund and The Forum's Children's Fund. The 75-year-old singer will also perform at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, also in its 75th year.

He is also supporting the record with an autograph session at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, at the Borders store at Park Avenue and 57th Street in New York, and appearances on "Late Show with David Letterman," "The Today Show," "Live with Regis and Kelly" and "The View."

"Playin' with My Friends" (RPM Records/Columbia) features 15 classic blues songs, and includes duets with Ray Charles, Natalie Cole, Billy Joel, Sheryl Crow, k.d. Lang, Stevie Wonder and others. The album, recorded in Los Angeles and New York, was produced by Phil Ramone.
